After much anticipation, our beautiful boutique on Glasgow’s prestigious Buchanan Street held its grand opening on Wednesday night with a splendidly elegant affair.
Our Scottish flagship boutique marked its launch with an exclusive event after an impressive refurbishment, where guests enjoyed a champagne reception and delicious canapés, including whisky-cured salmon nibbles, served alongside bespoke Mappin & Webb cocktails from a pop-up gin bar.
Guests were greeted on arrival by local Jazz band The Ritz Trio as they performed outside the event on a carpet woven in the classic blue of Mappin & Webb. Upon entering the boutique, guests enjoyed further musical entertainment by a Glasgow-based classical guitarist.
Experiential activities included our ‘By Appointment’ bespoke ring service expertly demonstrated by the director of our Hatton Garden workshop, Mark Appleby. One of our expert Watchmakers also showcased his unique skill while engaging guests with an insight into the intricate workings of luxury timepieces.
Meanwhile, world-class calligraphers masterfully drew personal messages for guests from literary classics as a souvenir of the evening, along with a bottle of Mappin & Webb’s own-distilled summer gin.

Professional Calligraphers created beautiful keepsakes for our guests
Jamie Fraser, boutique manager at Mappin & Webb Glasgow, welcomed guests with an introduction to the brand, a look back at its time in Glasgow and explained how the significant investment in the boutique was carefully planned to reaffirm its historic status.
Set across two floors and joined by a marble staircase, the boutique offers over 2,280 sq ft of retail space, alongside a multitude of bespoke areas reflecting the brand’s craftsmanship and unique attention to detail.
Down to the monogrammed doors, stained glass skylight to the upper floor and regal blue blooms decorating the counter tops – a reminder of the brand’s iconic blue livery; the building’s architecture and grandeur is brought to life, almost resembling a stately residence.
Boasting one of Scotland’s most extensive selection of luxury timepieces and expertly curated fine jewellery, the boutique has complemented its offering with a number of exclusive brands and collections and now hosts dedicated giftware, after sales repairs and bridal departments.
The likes of Jaeger-LeCoultre, Fope, Roberto Coin, in addition to the highly sought-after Parisian designer Messika in a first for Scotland, are now available at Mappin & Webb. We are also a leading destination for Chopard watches and fine jewellery, as well as Cartier, TAG Heuer and Breitling collections.
Brian Duffy, the CEO of Mappin & Webb’s parent company Aurum Holdings, said: “We feel we have achieved what we wanted with this boutique, which was to rekindle a sense of heritage, excellence and prestige – qualities that both Mappin & Webb as a brand and our surroundings here in Glasgow represent.”
