In 5th century Ireland St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait too long for a proposal. The Saint generously made an exception that on one day women could propose... that day being 29th February, during a leap year!

Hundreds of years later in the Middle Ages, Queen Margaret of Scotland passed a law that if a woman had been turned down after proposing to a man, he had to give her a kiss and a silk gown; certainly a
reasonable consolation, and as relevant today as ever!

So if the mood should overcome you
this year ladies - your only chance
for the next four - why not stop and
grab some flowers (tip: why not pick
up the flowers from the supermarket
rather than your usual florist... it will make
your chap feel more at home!) - and pick your own engagement ring to make things official?
