Celebrating its iconic partnership with Red Bull Racing, TAG Heuer has unveiled two brand-new timepieces: the Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Editions. Perfectly crafted for true lovers of Formula 1 racing and sitting firmly within one of its best-selling collections, these special editions deliver advanced technical features, bold designs and are awe-inspiring F1 references.

We are delighted to be speaking with our expert buyer, Sophie Conroy, as she explores the history and function of the timepieces along with the exciting new features they have to offer.

Thrilled to be speaking with you today and thank you so much for agreeing to take part in this interview. Could you tell us about the history of the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition?

The Red Bull Racing special editions sit within one of the bestselling families for TAG Heuer: Formula 1. Created in 1987, the Formula 1 collection houses a range of timepieces that showcase the brand’s ties with the thrilling, fast-paced world of Formula 1 racing.

The collection itself is inspired by motor racing and the daring drivers that competed for pole position. Like the sport itself, the timepieces are renowned for having bold designs that demand attention and have advanced technical features that take inspiration from the extreme performance of the Formula 1 teams.

Could you tell us more about TAG Heuer’s iconic partnership with F1 Racing?

TAG Heuer’s partnership with F1 dates back more than 50 years, and in 2021, the brand extended its partnership with the Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, to be the Official Timekeeper through to 2024.

The watches within the collection are tough enough for professional F1 drivers and for those who live life in the fast lane, taking direct colour inspiration from Formula 1 cars to produce distinctly youthful and sporty timepieces.

Could you tell us more about the specs and complications of this new timepiece?

We’re thrilled that the two new TAG Heuer Red Bull Racing Special Editions are launching at the Watches of Switzerland Group in celebration of the alliance between these two iconic brands.

The special edition chronographs are available with a 43mm steel case, and are presented on either a stainless-steel bracelet or blue rubber strap, offering a choice between an elegant or a sportier look. Both have a quartz movement, are 200 metres water resistant and have an aluminium blue tachymeter fixed bezel.

This year’s editions feature bolder colours, and TAG Heuer’s design team have used a deeper mythical blue sun brushed dial and combined this with bright yellow and red highlights within the chronograph.

The bezel is now engraved with the word ‘SPEED’, symbolising Formula 1’s pursuit for ultimate performance, and the caseback is engraved with the words “RED BULL RACING FORMULA ONE TEAM SPECIAL EDITION”.

Without a doubt, the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition will certainly be well received by the latest generation of Formula 1 fans – especially Red Bull Racing Team enthusiasts –all over the world.
