Elevating your look with jewellery can totally transform an outfit – taking you from weekend relaxation to al fresco entertaining, or daytime office wear to night-time glamour. Other than the lip gloss in your handbag, it’s the easiest and quickest way to nail a stylish look to suit any occasion.

Some of us feel confident in doing just this but for others it can leave us feeling a little bit lost. When jewellery newness is welcomed into our wardrobes, your favourite ‘go-to’ items might not necessarily be those that you yearn to wear. And the key trends that you seek to adopt may leave you feeling a little overwhelmed.

We share our key basics along with some of our favourite pieces to inspire you and help you style with confidence.

Express Yourself

The plethora of fashion and jewellery pieces available to us can be almost overwhelming at times, however it gives you the freedom to express your personality, your mood, and mirror your lifestyle or the occasion for which you are dressing.

The fundamental rule is to feel comfortable in how you choose to accessorise your look and this all stems from confidence. Don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through – this is your most endearing characteristic that we all want to see. Whether you crave the spotlight and seek big and bold statement jewellery, or thrive on ‘less is more’ and choose jewellery essentials and classic diamond settings, or perhaps a matching suite of jewellery is your preference, or your comfort zone is ear curation and you’re seeking inspiration? Find the inner you and let your jewellery do the talking.

Find a Balance

We’ve all got our jewellery box favourites, but when new season jewellery items drop, deciding on which pieces to wear can be a tough decision. So much so that we’ve all been guilty of not knowing when to stop layering!

Layering is a key trend that doesn’t seem to be disappearing just yet. Whether it’s necklaces, bracelets, ring stacking or a fully curated ear, the following guidelines should help you achieve the perfect balance:

1. Choose a focal point with a different shape, texture, or design to add interest and then layer with contrasting lengths to draw the eye upwards.

2. Don’t be afraid to layer and stack fine jewellery. Layering with diamonds can make a superbly elegant statement. Choose varying lengths and designs, such as those from our Gossamer and Libretto collections, to add interest and sophisticated sparkle.

3. It’s not about a seamless execution of ‘matching’ the items together – pick a theme, this will usually be your focal point. Perhaps it’s a diamond or a coloured stone or maybe a floral inspired design.

4. An arm adorned with beautiful bracelets and cuffs can look positively enchanting…but if you’ve layered your neckline with some fabulous pieces, think about where you want the focus to be. Equally if you’re displaying a fully curated ear too then somewhere along the line there might just be a little too much, leaving the eyes of your admirers not knowing where to look first. Remember to balance your look.

Play to Your Strengths

Just as we dress to suit our body shapes and show off those areas that we fondly know as ‘our best bits’, it is equally wise to play to your strengths when accessorising with jewellery. If you want to draw attention to your decolletage, then consider a delicate necklace with some added sparkle that will enhance this sensual area. Elongate the neck with beautiful drop earrings, embrace short or tied back hair with a creative and curated ear and enjoy the art of ring stacking to highlight long fingers with beautifully manicured nails.

Don’t feel like you must stick to the rules – we’re just giving you some guidelines. If the rules were never broken, then the world of fashion and jewellery would become a rather static place. We’d never see the re-emergence of trends, nor the development of new ones. Celebrities and influencers would lose their status if they weren’t seen wearing something a little off-kilt now and again and being inspired by people, places and things would lose its allure.

Have confidence to be your own artist, and when you need a helping hand, follow these basic guidelines to pull off a stylish look.
